Cooked Wild Rice

Cultivated wild rice will cook in approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Hand-harvested wild rice will cook in approximately 30 to 35 minutes. Generally, the darker the rice grain, the longer it will take to cook.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 3½ to 4 Cup(s)
  • 1 cup raw wild rice
  • 4 cups water
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

Rinse wild rice in strainer under cool tap water. In a saucepot, combine rice, water and salt. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until rice grains burst open and puff. Drain rice in strainer to remove excess liquid.
