Ben's Wish Gets Healthy Contribution from 416 Cuisine
BRIDGETT LOWERY, owner and operator of 416 Cuisine, and her husband Vince feel very strongly about giving back to the community that supports their business.
416 Cuisine began partnering with Ben’s Wish in 2012 and to date has donated over 3,000 pounds of healthy food and last November donated $1,000 to the backpack program.
Ben’s Wish provides area schools in need with backpacks of simple food that children can prepare themselves, but the need out-paces the supply. Each backpack costs Ben’s Wish $2.50.
Ben’s Wish is named for Ben Delain, whose young life was cut short by an accident, but whose passion to improve the lives of those less fortunate around him inspired a campaign to meet the needs of the hungry in our area.
In 2015, to celebrate its one-year anniversary in its De Pere location, 416 Cuisine sold cookies for $12 a dozen and donated $10 to Ben’s Wish for the back pack program. A total of 83 dozen cookies were sold to 62 participants. With the addition of some cash donations, the effort brought in $1,000 to Ben’s Wish that provided 400 backpacks. The packs went to Tank Elementary School in Green Bay.
This year the Lowerys will celebrate their second anniversary in De Pere the same way and hope to double their donation.
